Dangerous Countries: Honduras one of the worst?

June 25, 2016 By Rikaine 2 Comments

The truck pulls up, I jump in and my husband explains quickly……………

“WE NEED TO LEAVE, NOW!”

We were on the beach in Puerto Cortés, Honduras (just over a week ago). The girls and I had just bought minutas – a snow cone. My husband had gone to our vehicle to “check things out.”

Someone was close to our truck and we both thought perhaps something was wrong. [Read more…]

May 6, 2016 By Rikaine Leave a Comment

I have found a new best friend! Her name? She answers to – Contigo.

She is an undeniably loyal travel companion and a must have while on the go – even if it’s only to the grocery store.

She goes everywhere with me – travel is one of her best qualities.  My BFF makes me smile all the time, she is super sweet, snuggles with me on the couch and no back talk – I would be lost without her. [Read more…]

April 27, 2014 By Rikaine 3 Comments

My Travel CompanionU-is-for-Umbrella: What can your sombrilla do for you? Really your umbrella can be a loyal travel companion. No, it can’t give directions like your smart phone, but it does more than you think and doesn’t talk back. Many leave home without their umbrella, but this companion should be treated like a good friend – kept close! You may ask, “What else can my umbrella do [Read more…]

In the Skies

Hello All! I am glad to be back in the States! It may only be for a couple of weeks but it is always nice to be back to my native, home sweet home.

I can’t say that I enjoy the snow and below zero temperatures, but expected for January here in Green Bay, WI. It’s actually been very nice weather in Honduras. Hasn’t been too hot. I am sure in the next month when I head back it will be sweat rolling weather!!

Well, I have to say that my trip from Honduras to Wisconsin can’t exactly be described as a great experience. Better to say not even a good experience. [Read more…]

The Chicago Botanic Gardens

July 31, 2013 By Rikaine 3 Comments

japanese gardenWow!!! What a day we had at the Chicago Botanic Gardens! While my youngest and I were visiting with family we had the opportunity to spend time not only with great company, but also in a surprising place!

The day couldn’t have be better plan if we wanted to. Starting from home we all thought that maybe it would be just too hot to spend time at the Botanic Gardens.
